Service Description

The minimum of one sample (tube) is required to be taken per 10m². There may also be a variety of surfaces that will require testing as well, in the same area. Our samplers are all BSc degree qualified and hold NZQA certification in Methamphetamine Sampling. The number of tubes required is at the sampler's discretion & determined on-site IN COMPLIANCE with NZS 8510:2017. Call Greg on 021 0826 3826 or use email (below) to book in. A Detailed Assessment is generally required when there is confirmed or suspected methamphetamine contamination, or when formal action may be necessary. A Detailed Assessment quantifies the presence and distribution of methamphetamine contamination and determines, under the Residential Tenancies (Managing Methamphetamine Contamination) Regulations 2026, whether a property is contaminated and what decontamination is required. Pre-Decontamination Assessment: establishes contamination distribution to inform remediation work and supports the decontamination process. Post-Decontamination Assessment: conducted after remediation to evaluate effectiveness. Results can indicate whether additional decontamination is needed or, under NZS8510:2017, support issuance of a Certificate of Clearance by the decontamination contractor. The scope and method of a Detailed Assessment are defined in NZS8510:2017. Pre-Decontamination testing focuses on surfaces most likely to be contaminated to identify areas requiring cleaning. Post-Decontamination testing focuses on surfaces most likely to remain contaminated to assess remediation effectiveness. A Certificate of Clearance under NZS8510:2017 is a quality assurance statement by the decontamination contractor that the sampled areas are representative of the wider use area. Discrete samples are collected from ALL use areas, including bedrooms, kitchen, lounge, hallway, bathroom, laundry, other living spaces, garage, outbuildings, and limited-use areas such as roof cavities and crawl spaces. Samples are sent to the laboratory and analysed individually, allowing direct comparison with reference levels. We typically attend site within 48 hours of booking confirmation. Detailed reports—containing results, contamination determinations, and recommendations—are usually delivered within 48 hours of laboratory receipt. Pricing varies depending on property size, number of buildings, number and size of use areas, and materials present.
