Service Description

A Baseline Screening Assessment (BSA) is a precautionary methamphetamine screening performed when there is minimal or no suspicion of meth-related activity. Its purpose is to identify whether methamphetamine residues are present on a property. Discrete wipe samples are taken from all key areas (bedrooms, kitchen, lounge, hallway, bathroom, laundry, other living spaces, garage, and outbuildings). These are composited in the field using Analytica Laboratory 5 swipe sample kits. Samples are sent to the laboratory and composited into groups of up to 10 samples for analysis. Sampling is conducted using the NIOSH 9111 technique and complies with NZS8510:2017 Important Note The Residential Tenancies (Managing Methamphetamine Contamination) Regulations 2026 do not allow this kind of meth test (Baseline Screening Assessment) to be used for tenancies. Instead, the Area-by-Area Lab-composited meth test is used. In this case, the samples are collected using individual sample kits and composited at the laboratory only.
